The National Association of Specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (NASOG) is pleased to announce the election of its new leadership team at the 2025 Annual General Meeting, with Dr Elizabeth Jackson appointed as President. Dr Jackson brings deep clinical experience, a strong commitment to private practice and a clear determination to strengthen NASOG’s voice at a time when specialist O&G in Australia needs decisive, evidence-based advocacy.
Joining Dr Jackson on the governing Executive Committee are:
Dr Stephen Bradford, Vice President
Dr Kara Thompson, Treasurer
A/Prof Vinay Rane, Secretary
Dr Kellie Tathem, Executive Committee Member
A/Prof Gino Pecoraro OAM, Executive Committee Member
During the AGM, Members also endorsed a new NASOG Constitution, a significant milestone in modernising how the organisation governs and develops income streams. The new framework positions NASOG for growth, clarity and long-term sustainability through registration as a charitable body.
Building on recent momentum, the newly elected Council is ready to deliver on an ambitious two-year plan. Key priorities include:
Expanding NASOG’s advocacy footprint at federal, state and stakeholder levels, ensuring specialist obstetrics and gynaecology remains visible, valued and viable.
Growing and enhancing member benefits, including resources for your practice, policy updates, education and professional-support initiatives.
Delivering a dynamic events program, including conferences, workshops, roadshows, policy consultation forums and social gatherings designed to connect, inform and empower specialists across Australia.
This period of renewal signals a strong and optimistic future for NASOG. The new leadership team is committed to building on recent momentum and addressing the ongoing challenges facing private maternity care, from workforce pressures to funding models, regulatory settings and the broader maternity crisis.
NASOG also extends its deep appreciation to A/Prof Gino Pecoraro, who steps down after six years of dedicated leadership. His tenure guided the organisation through the unprecedented disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, significant shifts in government policy and the escalation of Australia’s maternity-care challenges. His unwavering advocacy, strategic insight and public leadership has ensured that NASOG remained a vocal advocate for specialist O&G.
With renewed purpose, refreshed governance and a committed leadership team, NASOG approaches the next two years focused, energised and ready to drive meaningful change.
