About Us
NASOG is the independent national voice for specialist women’s health.
We represent specialist obstetricians and gynaecologists and advocate for affordable access to safe, high-quality and sustainable care across the full scope of obstetric and gynaecological practice.
Our purpose is to advance women’s health by promoting excellence in specialist practice, patient safety and clinical quality through education, research and professional development. We support the collection, analysis and dissemination of data relating to maternity and gynaecological outcomes to improve transparency, inform evidence-based policy and drive continuous improvement in patient care.
NASOG advocates for system-wide reform that strengthens collaboration between the public and private sectors, promotes equitable access to specialist care and supports sustainable models of funding and service delivery. We work to foster collaboration among specialists, GPs, midwives, nurses and allied health professionals to support safe, coordinated and patient-centred care.
We provide independent, evidence-based advice to governments and regulators to improve health policy, patient outcomes and workforce sustainability. We also encourage educational activities that help women make informed choices about their care, including understanding options, safety and affordability.
NASOG operates on a not-for-profit and politically independent basis. All income and resources of the Association are applied solely to furthering its purpose.
Together, we strive to secure the future of specialist obstetric and gynaecological care in Australia.
